Kanye West recently said sorry to Jay-Z for making offensive comments about his children — but soon after, he caused fresh controversy with a shocking and inappropriate question about Beyoncé.
The 47-year-old rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to post a public apology. He wrote, “I’m sorry Jay Z,” and admitted he felt bad about a previous tweet. West explained that he once considered many people in the music world like family, but when he needed real support, he felt let down. He added that during difficult times, no one in the rap community truly stood by him.
However, less than an hour later, West followed up with another post that quickly overshadowed his apology. In it, he asked a vulgar question about Jay-Z’s relationship with Beyoncé. The comment shocked many users online, with some pointing out the contradiction. One person wrote, “You just said sorry to him lmaoooo,” while another commented, “Don’t pull a new one!! Lmaoo.”
This incident came just weeks after West publicly insulted Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s young twins, Rumi and Sir. At the time, he questioned their intelligence in a tweet that he later deleted. But not long after, he re-uploaded the same post and claimed he hadn’t deleted it to be a better person — only because he thought his account might get suspended.
In that message, he continued to mock the children and did not mention the couple’s oldest daughter, Blue Ivy, who is 13. The following day, West again expressed regret, saying, “I LOVE JAY Z AND I DO FEEL BAD.”
Even with his repeated apologies, West has continued to defend his right to speak freely. In a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, he said he would rather give up his life than be forced to stop expressing his opinions.
West and Jay-Z were once close collaborators, especially after releasing their 2011 joint album Watch the Throne. Over time, however, their friendship and professional relationship have faded.
Kanye, who has four children of his own, has made many headlines recently for his unpredictable posts on X. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016, though he claimed in 2022 that doctors had made a mistake and that he was mentally “misdiagnosed.”
While some fans continue to support West, others have expressed concern about his behavior and the impact of his comments on others, especially those involving family members of former friends.
