Obnews Tech Desk: If you are thinking of switching from Vodafone Idea (VI) to Jio, but do not want to change your mobile number, then mobile number portability (MNP) is the most correct option for you. Under this process, you can choose a new network by retaining your existing mobile number.

First make this preparation

Before switching to Jio, you have to decide which JIO plan will be most suitable according to your need. For this, you can get information about the plans available by visiting Jio's official website or nearest Jio store.

Send porting request from vi number

Send SMS on 1900 by writing your mobile number from your current VI number. In response to this, you will get an UPC (Unique Porting Code), which is necessary for the SIM port in Jio.

Go to Jio Store and complete the port process

Show your UPC code by visiting your nearest Jio Store or Jio Retailer. There you will be given a new Jio SIM. In addition, Aadhaar card, PAN card or driving license and a passport size photo will be required for identification.

Wait for sim activation

The new Jio SIM usually takes 2 to 24 hours to activate. Once the sim is activated, you can take advantage of the new network by switching to Jio from VI.
