According to Techchchan, Instagram is currently testing a reel that will show lock when scrolling short videos. Users must unlock these reels with a signal. For example, “my dog's name” or “my birthday” may be one of the number of signs that users need to put “secret code” in the field to unlock the reels.
A screenshot shared by Techchchan shows a blurred reel on which “Unlock this reel from the design” text is written. Users will also see an indication just below this text. In this case, the signal is “the first #in the caption, which refers to the first hashtag mentioned in the locked reel caption. Below it is a button on which it is written “Enter the Secret Code.” Tapping on it opens a box, where viewers can unlock the reel by entering the secret code obtained from the signal.
Although Instagram has not commented on this development, the report suggested that it may be useful for the growing community of creators and brands on the new feature platform. By locking the reel, creators can get more control over which content they want to earn from the algorithm of Instagram.
