The M6 motorway was hit with delays of an hour following a crash on Thursday afternoon.

Traffic was stopped on the motorway near Knutsford in Cheshire after the smash and there were delays of up to an hour.

A statement from National Highways on X said: "M6 southbound between J19 and J18 near Knutsford. Traffic was briefly held due to a collision.

"Three lanes (of 4) are now open. Delays of just under 60 minutes, 7 miles of congestion on the approach, almost back to M56 (J20)."

The roads body later added that all lanes reopened and that traffic was likely to clear by 5pm.
