The International Cricket Council (ICC) has 12 full members, while 94 associate countries are included. However, IOC has approved the inclusion of 6-6 teams of men and women in Los Angeles Olympics 2028, which will have to compete for medals in T20 format. Apart from this, quota of 90-90 athletes has also been approved in both classes. That is, every team can announce a 15 -member squad for the Olympics. According to reports, IOC had already told the ICC that the quality of cricket in the tournament should be top-class. This is the reason that the ICC proposed to include the world's best 6-6 teams.

How to qualify?

Only 6 teams will be able to qualify for the Olympics, but the qualification criterion has not been fixed for this. However, according to reports, the US team can get a direct entry due to being a host. Subsequently, teams can be selected based on the ranking of ICC for the remaining 5 places. This means that the ICC's top-5 teams may be included in the Olympics. A cut-off date can also be fixed for this.
