Sankar-Sashidhar Divorce: Weeks after Rippling co-founder Prasanna Shankar accused his wife Divya Sashidhar of infidelity and shared screenshots of their alleged affair, his wife has finally broken her silence.

Divya Shashidhar made serious allegations in an interview with the San Francisco Standard, alleging that Shankar forced her to have sex soon after the birth of her child, pressured her to agree to an open relationship, and used hidden cameras to spy on their home.

She also accused him of luring prostitutes and taking her and their son to several countries. Divya said that in 2020, Prasanna moved his family from California to Washington state to avoid California taxes.

What is the whole controversy?

The controversy began when Shankar, a tech billionaire with a reported net worth of $1.3 billion, shared screenshots on his X last month accusing Sasidhar of having a six-month affair with a man named Anoop Kuttisankaran. The posts included hotel bookings in her name and sexually suggestive messages asking him to buy “XL size condoms” allegedly sent from the alias “Divya Prakruthi.”

Shankar wrote, "My wife Divya and I were married for 10 years. When I found out that she was having an affair, our marriage broke up." He claimed that the screenshots were sent to him by Anup's wife. These posts went viral, with a large section of the internet taking Shankar's side and demanding legal action against Sashidhar in the battle for custody of their 9-year-old son.

Allegations from both sides

Addressing the widely circulated screenshots, Divya claimed they were fabricated. In court, her lawyers said there may have been emotional conversations with Anup, but there was no sexual relationship. The couple, who met as students at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli, were in a marital relationship for over a decade before separating.

Their legal battle is not limited to personal grievances but also extends to more serious allegations, with Shankar alleging that Sashidhar kidnapped their son and deliberately filing for divorce in the US instead of India to get more money. However, Divya says she sacrificed her career for Shankar and endured emotional and physical abuse during their marriage. She claims that her decision to file for divorce in the US was not for financial gain but was based on the need for legal protection.
