Tim David has met Jasprit Bumrah in the nets on several occasions during his three-year tenure with the Mumbai Indians. On Monday, when the Mumbai Indians play the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium, David is probably going to face Bumrah, but as an opponent this time.
The 29-year-old Tim David is probably going to bat in the latter part of the innings, and Bumrah is one of the greatest bowlers in the last overs. What lessons has the RCB batsman learned from watching Bumrah in the nets that he will use to his Monday matchup with the MI bowler?
The Australian player, who was born in Singapore, said that he would move his toes aside since Bumrah possesses a deadly yorker.
“He has a rather deadly yorker, so I’ll just try to get my toes out of the path. He bowls well. And the greatest sensations a player can have are when they do well against the finest teams and players. So you want to be pushed by the greatest, and I’m excited about that,” Tim David said during the press conference held before to Sunday’s game.
After recovering completely from a lower back injury sustained during the fifth and final Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series a few months ago, Bumrah is returning from a protracted injury hiatus. Despite missing the Mumbai Indians’ first four games, he is expected to run up to bowl the first ball on Tuesday.
Tim David, 29, who was a member of the Mumbai Indians from 2022 to 2024, anticipated that Bumrah’s first delivery against his club would be hit for a four or six.
“We have to defeat the top teams and players if we want to go far in this competition. You know, ideally tomorrow night Boom (Bumrah’s nickname) bowls the ball in the first over and whomever is batting for us hits the first ball for four or six,” he remarked.
“You know, that’ll be a statement, and it’ll be great to have him back playing the tournament because the game is better with him in it,” he said.
Since he had wonderful memories of performing in Mumbai, David said his visit was bittersweet.
“First of all, returning to Mumbai is definitely bittersweet. There are undoubtedly many wonderful memories of playing here, as well as many wonderful people to reminisce with. Tim David said that all RCB players are eligible for selection, making it an intriguing aspect of the first year of the new IPL cycle.
Tim David has amassed 54 runs at a strike rate of 207.69 in his three games as a member of Royal Challengers Bengaluru so far, with a high of 32. Tim David, who is well-known for his ability to smash hard, played for Singapore from 2019 to 2020 before moving to Australia. He participated in the 2022 T20 World Cup with the Australian squad.
