Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has already made his feelings clear on the Premier League title race with Spurs in line for a major role in the coming weeks. With Arsenal dropping more points on Saturday, Liverpool could win the Premier League title as soon as their clash with at Anfield on April 27.

Before the weekend, Arne Slot's side had amassed a total of 73 points with 30 matches played - 12 clear of second-placed . After they beat Merseyside rivals Everton on Wednesday, they required only 13 more to be mathematically confirmed 2024/25 champions.

But now without even kicking a ball, have moved a step closer to success.

. Leandro Trossard had originally put them ahead though Myles Lewis-Skelly conceded a penalty almost immediately after the restart.

Iliman Ndiaye stepped up, sent David Raya the wrong way and the match would go on to finish one goal apiece.

With that, the Reds now have the opportunity to extend their advantage at the top to 14 points when they play Fulham in the capital on Sunday.

The Gunners, on 62 points, can only finish with a maximum of 83 points now, as things stand. Liverpool are able surpass that total with 11 more points between now and the end of the season.

Provided Arsenal do their part and win their next three matches against Brentford, Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace alongside Liverpool defeating Fulham, West Ham and Leicester City, the earliest the title race can be decided is later this month when and Co. visit Anfield.

, being fierce rivals with second-placed Arsenal, will therefore be put in the difficult position of wanting to win the game to improve their own league standing, but will also be able to put the final nail in the coffin of their North London neighbours in the title race.

It is all-too familiar position for Spurs to be in. Last May, one point behind Arsenal though having played one fixture fewer in the previous title race.

"I understand rivalry. I was part of one of the biggest ones in the world in the last couple of years with Celtic and Rangers.

"But I've never, and will never, understand if someone wants their own team to lose. That's not what sport is about. It's not what I love about the game," Postecoglou stressed when asked before that fixture about the chance to dent Arsenal's chances.

"What I love more than anything in the game is the competitiveness, challenging yourself to beat someone and coming out successful. Anything outside of that, it’s got nothing to do with sport. It’s got nothing to do with me.

"My role is to bring success to this football club and I know 100 per cent of Spurs supporters want us to win, be successful and win trophies. That is without a shadow of a doubt, and us winning tomorrow night will help us bring joy to 100 per cent of Spurs supporters."

In what quickly became a rant, the Spurs boss continued: "Real success looks like trophies. Anything in between - bragging rights, whatever it is, it’s absolutely meaningless to me, to anyone involved with me. We’ve got a game tomorrow that we want to win.

“You think the majority of our fans are going to want us to not win tomorrow night? I don’t see it that way. I think the majority of our fans will create the atmosphere they’ve always created in our home games and, irrespective, we’ve got a game of football to win and that’s what we’re going to try to do.

"I'd hate to think that anyone thinks we would go out there tomorrow with anything other than trying to measure ourselves against a top team, and maybe win a game of football that's consequential.

"How are we ever going to become a team that wins things if we don't win the big games, if we shy away from them?"

Spurs may have less to play for in their current position almost 12 months on, though Postecoglou's stance will not have changed regarding the title race. Expect the same defiant figure to not pay attention to any repercussions from what his team do against Liverpool and its baring on Arsenal and the title race.

Should Sours defeat Arne Slot's side, the burden would only fall back upon with the Reds set to visit Stamford Bridge on May 4.

This is an additional chance to wrap things up before Arsenal actually visit Anfield on May 10, who may have to give Liverpool a guard of honour before the season is up.
