Nick Rockett claimed victory in the Grand National as trainer celebrated another success at Aintree with a dominant display. Patrick Mullins rode the 33/1 shot in the country's most captivating race.
I Am Maximus, last year's winner, went off as the second favourite and was bidding to emulate the likes of Tiger Roll who won successive Grand Nationals several years ago. However the Willie Mullins-trained horse could only finish second.
Iroko was backed into favouritism in the moments before the race and was among the leaders in the final stages, but finished fourth. Broadway Boy, who had led to almost the entire race, fell with five fences to go when looking primed.

Patrick Mullins told : "I'm too out of breath to say anything. It is incredible. I got too good a start and had to take him back all the way but he jumped fantastic. It a dream from when I was a kid. When I was a kid I watched videos so this is very special. He's fine - I need a cold bath myself. He's not big but he is brave as a lion."
Willie Mullins was tearful in the moments after the race as his son claimed victory but did say: "It was some result. It is lovely to be able to give your son a ride in the National, but to be able to win it is just unbelievable."
