Joseph Quinn has a lot going on for him on the professional front. The actor will soon take flight as the superhero Johnny Storm. However, before he suits up for ' Fantastic Four: First Steps ', fans will get to watch him in action on the battlefield in Warfare. Directed by Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza and filmmaker Alex Garland , the film drops audiences directly into the chaos of combat, as it offers an unflinching, real-time portrayal of modern combat, camaraderie, and survival.
Quinn, who plays Sam, a character inspired by real-life SEAL Joe Hildebrand, who was severely injured during an evacuation. Speaking about the script, he said, "It’s a very contained script — you’re dropped in the middle of these people’s lives with very little exposition." He adds, “There’s something about the way Alex and Ray have framed these characters where it’s one organism, rather than a selection of characters — you watch them navigate something going terribly awry and how their brotherhood and camaraderie gets them out.”
The film also stars Charles Melton as Jake Wayne, commander during the second Ramadi operation; Cosmo Jarvis as Elliott Miller, a pivotal figure in the mission; Will Poulter as Captain Eric; and Evan Holtzman as sniper Brock. The supporting cast includes Finn Bennett, Noah Centineo , Henrique Zaga, Taylor John Smith, Kit Connor , Michael Gandolfini, and Adain Bradley, rounding out the tightly-knit SEAL unit.
Set deep in insurgent territory, Warfare follows an elite Navy SEAL platoon on a covert surveillance mission that spirals into chaos. Drawing from first-hand military accounts and the memories of those who served, the film strips away Hollywood glamour to present a brutally honest look at the psychological and physical toll of war.
Warfare opens in Indian theatres on April 11.
