It seems that the legal battle between Infosys and US-based Cognizant Technology Solutions  has taken a new turn with additional charges being filed in a US court as per the latest development.

This legal battle started when Infosys accused Cognizant of engaging in anti-competitive practices.

Infosys said that Cognizant is doing this to maintain its dominance in the healthcare software market.

Moving ahead, Infosys escalated a dispute that initially stemmed from allegations of trade secret theft.

Infosys Filing Fresh Allegations Against Cognizant

Infosys appears to have alleged that Cognizant has been leveraging its monopoly influence to stifle competition through its Cognizant TriZetto Software Group platform, in a new filing at a US district court in Dallas, Texas.

In this filing, Infosys claims that Cognizant is engaged in market-controlling tactics, such as inflating prices by limiting output and blocking competitors from entering the healthcare software space.

According to Infosys, Cognizant unfairly wielded restrictive non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), withheld essential training for its key software products QNXT and Facets, and deliberately influenced Infosys employees to hinder the growth of Infosys’s competing healthcare platform, Helix reported in a media report.

On this subject, Infosys submitted a 35-page document, on March 31, further accusing Cognizant of using exclusionary strategies such as ‘most favoured vendor’ (MFV) agreements to sustain its market dominance.

In addition to this, Infosys has also asked the court to reject Cognizant’s motion to dismiss the case further claiming that the company’s actions as “attempted monopolisation” and “unreasonable restraint of trade”.

How Did This Happen?

The feud between these two IT giants started during August 2024, when Cognizant accused Infosys of misappropriating trade secrets to its TriZetto platform.

After that Infosys raised a concern in January 2025 with an antitrust counterclaim, alleging Cognizant’s anti-competitive strategies blocked fair competition.

Not only that, Infosys has implicated Cognizant’s CEO, Ravi Kumar S, alleging that during his tenure at Infosys, he deliberately delayed the launch of Infosys Helix, adding fuel to the fire.

In response to this, Cognizant has strongly denied Infosys’s allegations, dismissing them saying ‘preposterous’ and ‘absurd’.

Further, maintaining that it upholds fair competition and accuses Infosys of misusing its intellectual property.
