The Indian High Commissioner said on Saturday that an Indian person had been fatally stabbed in Canada’s Rockland, close to Ottawa. The Indian Embassy in Canada reports that a suspect has been arrested by the police.
We await the victim’s and the incident’s specifics. The identity of the suspect is yet unknown. The Embassy said that they are helping the victim’s family in any way they can.
“The unfortunate stabbing murder of an Indian person in Rockland, close to Ottawa, has left us very heartbroken. According to the police, a suspect has been arrested. In an X post, the Embassy said, “We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin.”
Residents of Rockland have been alerted by the Ontario Provincial Police to anticipate a heightened police presence in the region, according to CBC News.
In a related case, on December 6, 2024, Harshandeep Singh Anttal, a student from Haryana, was killed in Edmonton, Alberta. Two individuals assaulted him while he was working as a security guard at an apartment building. Judith Saulteaux, 30, and Evan Rain, 30, were accused of first-degree murder.
In March, a guy named Braydon Joseph James French viciously assaulted an Indian lady on a packed train station in Calgary as witnesses did little to assist her. After brutally shaking her and splashing water in her face, the assailant demanded her phone. Despite claiming the incident was not motivated by race, police have detained the guy.
