Thanks to the efforts of a committed teenage volunteer from New Jersey, USA, who has deep family ties to the area, ten Anganwadi facilities in the Khammam district now have access to dependable solar electricity.
A Millburn, New Jersey high school student named Abhi Bathula donated money and organized the construction of solar panel grids at the centers with the help of his grandparents, Drs. B Janaki Ramaiah and B Sarojini. The program encourages sustainable development and early childhood education.
Earlier this week, on Thursday at Kotha Lingala hamlet of Kamepalli Mandal, the area’s district collector, Muzammil Khan, officially opened the installations in front of local officials, educators, parents, and excited kids. Working on a project that meets the needs of kids and their caretakers was a fulfilling experience.
“I want to express my gratitude to everyone who made this possible,” Abhi Bathula stated that day. The Anganwadis will get basic energy from the solar power systems, allowing for better ventilation and lighting, improving the everyday experience for both staff and children. Teachers conveyed their gratitude, emphasizing how little adjustments may have a big impact on day-to-day operations.
