Residents of Nerul Sector 8 have launched a campaign demanding an extension of the opening hours for Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Park. Currently, the park operates from 4 PM to 9 PM, but residents are urging authorities to keep it open until 11 PM.

To support their demand, the Nerul Residents’ Association conducted a two-day signature campaign this week. The association highlighted that with annual exams recently concluded, many children, women, and senior citizens are eager to use the park for evening walks and recreational activities.

Residents argue that the early closure of the park forces them to walk on streets at night, posing safety concerns. "If the park remains open, it will ensure security for residents," said a local resident.

Leading the campaign, Nerul Residents’ Association President Swapnil Gholap, along with Uday Salvi, Dwarka Kokate, and Vinayak Pingle, emphasized the need for extended hours to accommodate the community’s needs.

The demand for longer park hours is gaining momentum, and residents hope that authorities will take prompt action to implement the change.
