When Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti turned 114, he closed himself for six days to pray and abandoned his body, after which he was buried here and this Pak Dargah was built. Hazrat Khwaja Moin-ud-Din Chishti is also known as the founder of Islam in India and the great preacher of Islam worldwide. Along with this, Hazrat Khwaja Moin-ud-Din Chishti is also known for his great teachings and social work. He came to India from Persia and stayed in Lahore for some time and after that Ajmer settled and settled. He died in twelve hundred thirty -six, and from then people come to his grave to ask for a wish. It is believed that whoever asks for a true heart in this dargah is fulfilled.

The Ajmer Sharif Dargah was built by the Mughals, so it is an excellent example of the rich Mughal style architecture. The construction of Ajmer Dargah was started by Iltutmish and it was built during the period of Humayun. The main gate of Ajmer Sharif is called Nizam Gate as it was built in 1911 by the then Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan of the Hyderabad State. After crossing this door, you will cross the Shahjahani Darwaza by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. The dargah is moved through a huge gate called Buland Darwaza. It was built by Sultan Mahmud Khilji, the Urs ceremony is started every year on the occasion of Urs on this door. A domed room has been built on the grave of the great Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Moin-ud-Din Chishti, which has a silver railing and marble screen. Every evening Qawwali is presented at Ajmer Sharif Dargah in memory of Khwaja by famous qawwalas. There is a small market outside the dargah from where all pilgrims buy sheets. In Dargah Sharif, you can also see Auliya Mosque, Dargah Shrine, Jama Masjid and Mahfilkhana.

In Ajmer, Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti has the largest pot in the world, which is called Badi Deg. The Dargah was presented by the Mughal emperor Akbar on the completion of the vow to the dargah. In this big lamp, 120 minds i.e. forty -eight hundred kilos of rice are cooked simultaneously. Along with this, there is more such lamp which is known as Chhoti Deg, 60 mind rice is cooked at a time. Chhoti Deg was built by the Mughal emperor Jahangir and presented to this dargah. The dargah has large lamps on one side and small on the other side. Due to the arrival of people of all religions and castes at the dargah, only vegetarian food is cooked in both these days. Along with this, Zarine in these lamps also consume many other types of lamps according to his faith and ability, but they are never used by non -vegetarian food or garlic onion.

The 'Urs' festival is held here every year in the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar since renouncing the body of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti. The main gate of the dargah which is closed at night is kept open during this festival for 6 days and night. People who want to visit this holy dargah can travel to Ajmer during the Urs festival. The best time to visit Ajmer Sharif is from October to March. During this time the Urs fair is organized in the dargah and the dargah is brilliantly decorated. The Ajmer Dargah is open to pilgrims from 05:00 am to 10:00 in the winter and from 4:00 am to 10:00 in summer.

The dargah is located at a distance of 2 km from the city of Ajmer, where it can be reached with the help of buses and cabs. The nearest airport to reach here by air is Sanganer Airport in Jaipur, located about 135 km. The nearest railway station to reach here is Ajmer Junction railway station, located about 1 km. Along with this, you can take a bus or cab from any part of the country to reach here by road.
