Graham Norton, the beloved TV host and recent literary success, is celebrating his 62nd birthday today (Friday, April 4), and he's candidly expressing his feelings about ageing. The star of The Graham Norton Show on BBC, who has become a household name for his celebrity interviews, revealed his thoughts on entering his 60s in an intimate conversation with RTE last year.

The Eurovision commentator confessed: "Well, you know, 60s is a thing! 40 I was a bit freaked out by because I didn't know how to be 40 and then I got over that. Then 50 was just more 40. But 60? There's no way, you can't pretend, 60 is just old. It is, it is old. I am an old person."

According to Gloucestershire Live, Graham also discussed the heightened concern for health and the increased sense of mortality that comes with this stage of life.

Known for his humour, he quipped on The Late Late Show: "The thing about being 60 is, it is fine. But now I think that everything is out to get me, do you know what I mean? Like if you are 18 and there is a funny twinge in your elbow, you just think, 'Ah, what the hell was that?'", reports .

"Now you think, 'That will kill me, that is the start of something awful, it will kill me'. You are slightly more aware of the end game at 60."

He also shared a heartfelt moment during the conversation, reflecting on the pride he felt in making his father, who suffered from Parkinson's disease, proud.

He humorously reminisced about his early days as an unemployed actor, with success only finding him in his mid-30s, alongside his initial adventures in stand-up comedy. It was the late 90s when his television career took off with the debut of So Graham Norton on Channel 4.

Graham, who is now married to filmmaker Jonathan 'Jono' McLeod, shared a poignant memory: "He [his father] was ill, he had Parkinson's, but what was great was I did my Channel 4 show, I had found some success, so he got to see that and I was so pleased."

In a touching recollection, Graham revealed his mother's efforts to take his sick father to London so he could be part of an episode of his show, which led to a backstage meeting with showbiz icons Grace Jones and Judith Chalmers.
