MobLand is shaping up to be an unmissable treat for crime drama aficionados, having firmly established itself as a fan favourite.

Cinematic bigwig Guy Ritchie is on board as executive producer and director, while Ronan Bennett of Top Boy fame lends his scriptwriting prowess to the series that spans 10 episodes, pointing towards it possibly being crowned one of the best new offerings in 2025, reports .

It's outshone even the buzz around other Paramount+ shows like the Yellowstone prequel 1923 and Taylor Sheridan's latest series, Landman.

Starring alongside Hollywood giants Pierce Brosnan, of James Bond fame, and Helen Mirren from 1923, they portray the Harrigans—rulers of a major London crime syndicate in MobLand.

Tension rises when their reign is challenged by another gang, necessitating the help of expert 'fixer' Harry Da Souza (played by Hardy), called upon to defend their interests.

In light of the show's smashing success, Chris McCarthy, who's at the helm of Paramount as Co-CEO and President, applauded the project: "MOBLAND is a runaway success thanks to the visionary work of Guy, Jez [Butterworth, writer], Ronan and David Glasser and brought to life by the exceptional Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren who transport us into a audiences clearly cannot get enough of.

"MOBLAND is yet another proof point for the power of our differentiated model – fewer, bigger, breakthrough series that can cut through the clutter and also builds on our 2024 record success where we finished as the #2 SVOD for original series time spent viewing."

The show boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring notable talent from prestigious TV shows, including Paddy Considine from House of the Dragon, Joanne Froggatt from Downton Abbey, and Janet McTeer from Ozark.

MobLand has also garnered rave reviews from TV enthusiasts, who agree that it showcases Snatch director Ritchie's continued excellence, while Hardy delivers a standout performance.

A glowing five-star review praises: "This is simply superb. Guy Ritchie is in epic form with his newest release.

"A gritty British gangster series with a strong (if not predictable) plot. Outstanding performances from an outstanding cast."

The reviewer continues: "This is likely one of [Pierce Brosnan's] best performances in the last 20 years - the character he plays maybe permitting him a more age-appropriate and realistic chance to show his skills.

"Excellent performances from everyone else - particular mention to Froggatt and Mirren.

"This series is setting out to be unparalleled and I'm greatly looking forward to watching the story unfold - even if the process of getting there may be somewhat tried and tested."

MobLand continues Sundays on Paramount+.
