Hyderabad: “Janaanandame Sadanandam” – RS Nanda’s tagline reflects the joy he spreads through his comedy. Now, with a Nandi Award in his hand, the journey of this talented actor has reached a new milestone. RS Nanda recently received the prestigious Nandi Award through Telugu Velugu Sahithi Vedika for his outstanding contribution to comedy.

Speaking to Read in an exclusive interview, Nanda opened up about his journey, and the happiness of being recognised. “Receiving the Nandi Award is a big moment for me,” he said. “Until now, I have received many awards, but this one is special. It’s a reminder to take up more challenging and responsible roles.”


A Humble Beginning

Nanda began his career in 2007 with short films. “I’ve acted in nearly 100 short films. That’s where I polished my skills,” he shared. His big-screen debut came with the film Bathukamma, in 2007, since then, he has acted in 14 movies.

Memorable Moments

Among all his roles, Nanda recalls one experience as truly unforgettable. “Acting beside Jagapathi Babu garu in Rundrangi was a unique experience. That role brought out another side of me as an actor.”

Family First

When asked whom he shared his award news with, the actor said, with his wife. “She was so happy. Then I called my close friends. Everyone was overwhelmed with joy.”

A Dreamer Since Day One

“I’ve always wanted to be an actor,” he said. “Acting is my passion, and I also dream of becoming a director someday too.”

Inspirations and Icons

Nanda Finds Inspiration in many legends. “Persheel is my guru. As a director, I admire K vishwanath but Krishna vamsi but Krisna vamsi but Chrain, Kamal Hassan but Chiranjeev but Chiranjeevi but have Always Be My Biggest Inspirations.”

Comedy is His Calling

He enjoys roles that make people laugh. “I want to entertain the audience. Comedy is my strength and I want to do more of it.”

What’s Next?

Currently, Nanda is working on three feature films and five short films. “Exciting projects are on the way,” he added.
