Los Angeles When the trailer for the forthcoming movie “After the Hunt” was shown at CinemaCon, it shocked and pleased the crowd.
Luca Guadagnino is the director of the movie, which stars Hollywood royalty like Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, and Andrew Garfield, according to ‘Variety’.
‘After the Hunt’, which is already being predicted for awards chatter, performed with confidence and captivated the audience of international movie theater owners at their annual meeting in Las Vegas.
The description for ‘Variety’ states that Julia Roberts plays a college lecturer who “finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield)”. “A dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light” as she struggles with an unpleasant circumstance.
As a shock-blonde, east coast academic elite, the Oscar winner is shown in peak form in what Guadagnino said was the finest performance of Roberts’ career. As her wild ex-lover Garfield pushes limits verbally and, finally, physically, her group of rather sycophantic coworkers (Michael Stuhlbarg, Chloe Sevigny) praise her genius.
Edebiri, a prospective protégé of hers, shows up to her flat in ruins and accuses Garfield of “crossing a line.” I answered no, but he persisted. As Julia Roberts’ chickens come home to roost, the resulting controversy has major ramifications for her character and pushes the limits of a variety of beliefs and expectations.
In a particularly tense exchange, Edebiri tells Roberts, “I’m no longer comfortable having this conversation with you.”
Roberts snaps back, “Not everything is meant to make you comfortable.”
As he took the platform, Guadagnino expressed his immense pride in the presentation he would be sharing with the exhibitors. He could say it a lot more times as award season draws near.
Imagine and Frensey Film Company is the creator of “After the Hunt.” Brian Grazer, Guadagnino, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum are the producers of the movie. The film’s executive producers are Nora Garrett, Alice Dawson, Karen Lunder, and Justin Wilkes.
