After the collision, both the loco pilots of the railway died tragically after being hit by the fire in the engine of the goods train. Both loco pilots were identified as Gangeshwar Mal, resident of Murshidabad, West Bengal and Ambuj Mahato, a resident of Sector-9 in Bokaro district of Jharkhand.

A tragic support in this accident was that just a few hours before his retirement, on his final service journey, Loco Pilot Dnyaneshwar Mal, a resident of Murshidabad Jiaganj in West Bengal, died tragically.
