Following a tough start to the IPL 2025 season, Rajasthan Royals finally secured their first victory after two consecutive losses. Under interim captain Riyan Parag, the team bounced back in their third match. However, a major leadership change is on the horizon as regular captain Sanju Samson has been declared fit by the BCCI. With his full recovery, Samson is expected to resume his role as team captain in the next match.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI’s Center of Excellence (COE) has given Sanju Samson the green light to return to full action, including wicketkeeping. After Rajasthan's third match, Samson traveled to the COE in Bengaluru for a final fitness assessment, where medical experts confirmed that he is now fit to keep wickets. Earlier, he was restricted to batting due to his recovery from a finger injury.

Sanju sustained the injury during India's T20 series against England in January and had been sidelined from fielding duties since then. While he was cleared to bat at the start of IPL 2025, he was used only as an impact player in Rajasthan Royals' first three matches.

In Samson’s absence, Riyan Parag took charge of the team. Despite suffering defeats in the first two matches, Rajasthan Royals registered a crucial win in their third game against Chennai Super Kings. Now, with Samson’s return, he is expected to reclaim the captaincy ahead of Rajasthan’s upcoming match against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 5.
