Amazon Prime has just added what some fans are calling the 'best Bruce Willis film ever', with some suggesting it is the actor's best performance since the original Die Hard.

Death Wish, a 2018 release, is now available for subscribers to rediscover on the retail giant's streaming platform. The film, directed by Eli Roth, is a remake of the 1974 film of the same name, which starred Charles Bronson in the lead role.

In the updated version, Bruce Willis steps into the shoes of Paul Kersey, but this time around, he's a trauma surgeon rather than an architect. Both films are based on Brian Garfield's novel.

Critics weren't as taken with Willis and the remake as they were with the original, awarding it a mere 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, many fans beg to differ, with some arguing that it's one of the Die Hard star's best performances and superior to the 1970s version.

Many fans have taken online to share their own opinions on Bruce Willis' performances and the film overall. One claimed: "The best Bruce Willis movie ever! This was the best movie that I've ever seen that had Bruce Willis in it. The classic home invasion movie with a lot of new twists which I love from the beginning to the end. This was an amazing movie overall and I loved it. There is a lot of action and cool shootouts as well as some cool locations. An incredible movie!"

Another agreed, expressing contentment with the casting change: "This movie was just flat out terrific. Much much better than the original. I don't care what everyone else says. I LOVED IT. I know that they all say how the original movie with Charles Bronson."

Continuing their passionate assessment, the same individual added: "I know that they say how it was a classic and how it ruled all the movies back then but no matter how many times I watch the first original. It doesn't seem to quite thrill me enough like the way that Bruce Willis does. Because he makes every movie that he's in."

And to top off the praise, a comparison with a previous franchise asserted: "The best. Much more intense and interesting than the original Death Wish. The Die Hard sequels were awesome. You need to take the new Death Wish to the same level. Of course Bruce Willis makes it much more believable."

While some hardcore fans might argue that the original Death Wish with Charles Bronson can't be beaten, one viewer admitted to being won over by Bruce Willis's take on the role, despite initial doubts. They confessed: "I was reluctant to watch this movie because I didn't think it could compare to the original Death Wish with Charles Bronson."

The same fan added their unexpected approval: "I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I think Bruce Willis did a great job, It was better than I thought it would be. I won't go so far as to say it was as good as the original, But I will say I'm really glad I watched it, I was not disappointed, and I would recommend it."

In a different tone, another viewer praised the reimagined film for setting the bar high for action remakes. They shared their thoughts, saying: "A solid re-telling of the classic vigilante tale, Eli Roth was the perfect director for this type of film. Bruce Willis pulls it off too, his best since the original Die Hard. Charles Bronson would be proud!"

Death Wish is streaming on Amazon Prime.
