One star left fans baffled when he changed his name midway through the antiques programme. Thomas Plant had starred on the show for years before suddenly changing his surname - making him Thomas Forrester.

His company Special Auction Services explained in a 2018 tweet: "Thomas has been Thomas Forrester for some time now so to avoid any further confusion he decided it was high time his details were updated. Of course, those of you who know him as Thomas Plant will always call him as such, for the avoidance of doubt he is in fact one and the same!"

Thomas has never officially explained the change, but some eagle-eyed fans noticed a Jessica Forrester working at his company from 2017 and speculated they might have struck up a relationship - though this has never been confirmed by either party. Jessica is still listed as a member of staff on the Special Auction Services website.

One social media user penned: "He was Thomas Plant on Bargain Hunt today - a 2016 version - now a Jessica Forrester joined his firm in 2017. Could she be the reason he is now Thomas Forrester???" Another mused: "Our Facebook group has been discussing this mystery as well. One member reported that Thomas is now married to Jessica Forrester and that he took her last name. Which, here in the US, is strange - so I don't know what to believe."

However, conflicting reports revealed Thomas married a woman named Angela in 2006, welcoming twin daughters together in 2010. He has confirmed in the past that he likes to spent his leisure time "with his children", adding: "I also like to work out and I very much enjoy CrossFit."

As for his guilty pleasures? "Skiing - it's the crisp blue sky, the peaked mountains, the squeak of fresh snow on your ski boots and the first run in the morning."
