However, this trend is shifting positively. More manufacturers are focusing on safety, engineering cars for better crash ratings, and including six airbags as standard. Even the affordable Maruti Suzuki Alto now offers this feature.
Affordable Cars with Six Airbags
The Tata Curvv, launched last year, is a compact SUV priced at Rs 10 lakh (Ex-sh). It competes with the Hyundai Creta and boasts excellent crash ratings alongside six airbags as standard. This makes it the most expensive vehicle on our list offering this feature.
Priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (Ex-sh), the Tata Punch EV is the only electric vehicle here with six airbags across its range. It features a 25 kWh battery pack that promises over 300 km of range, placing it at the higher end of the price spectrum.
Kia Syros, a new sub-4m SUV in India, offers a turbo petrol engine and promises a premium experience over the Sonet. Priced at Rs 9 lakh (Ex-sh), it includes six airbags as standard, although it hasn't been crash tested yet.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza recently received an update that added six airbags as standard. Previously offering only two, prices start from Rs 8.69 lakh (Ex-sh). The vehicle is yet to undergo crash testing.
Mid-Range Options
The Citroen Aircross SUV starts at Rs 8.49 lakh (Ex-sh) and now includes six airbags as standard after dropping "C3" from its name last year. Despite being low on sales charts, it gained several new features with this update.
Citroen Basalt, priced at Rs 8.25 lakh (Ex-sh), rivals Tata Curvv but isn't very popular in India yet. It recently scored four stars in crash tests and comes with six airbags as standard.
The Honda Amaze's third generation was launched late last year with a fresh design and improved interiors. Starting from Rs 8.14 lakh (Ex-sh), it offers six airbags as standard but awaits crash testing.

Tata Nexon also starts at Rs 8 lakh (Ex-sh) and was India's first vehicle to achieve five stars in crash ratings. It's a fan favourite in this segment due to its proven safety credentials and comes with six airbags as standard.
Mahindra XUV3XO is priced similarly at Rs 7.99 lakh (Ex-sh) and features an all-new design compared to its predecessor XUV300 which had five-star crash ratings. It includes six airbags as standard too.
The Hyundai Venue starts from Rs 7.94 lakh (Ex-sh) and offers six airbags like other Hyundai models further down this list. This sub-4m SUV will soon receive its second facelift expected around mid-2025.
Entry-Level Vehicles
Skoda Kylaq is a desirable sub-4m SUV starting from Rs 7.89 lakh (Ex-sh). Built on the MQB A0 IN platform like Kushaq and Slavia siblings, it's already achieved five-star BNCAP ratings while offering six airbags as standard.
The Hyundai i20 stands out among premium hatchbacks by providing six airbags across variants starting from Rs 7.04 lakh (Ex-sh). Although not crash tested yet, Tata Altroz facelift might follow suit soon too.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire created buzz when launched due to being their first model achieving five-star GNCAP rating while offering six bags starting from just Rs6 .84 lakhs( ex-showroom).
Most Affordable Options
The Hyundai Aura may not be known for looks but provides solid features including creature comforts along with safety measures such as having all-around protection via inclusion of these essential components within pricing structure beginning at approximately Rs 6 .54 lakhs( ex-showroom).
The fourth-generation Swift introduced new exterior styling alongside interior enhancements becoming Maruti's initial offering featuring comprehensive protective measures. Prices for this model starts at Rs 6 .49 lakhs( ex-showroom).
