Antiques Road Trip's Irita Marriott was gobsmacked upon discovering a treasure during Friday's show. In an episode from last year, she and her colleague ventured to Norfolk in search of profitable antiques.

While exploring a shop, Irita was astounded by one find. She humorously quizzed the camera: "Is this real? I'm literally lost for words.

"This is something that you do not see in antique centres, this is something you don't see in shops, or online because it is rare!"

Upon inspecting a cup and saucer made by English potter Josiah Spode, the expert was overjoyed, praising the items' elaborate decoration.

Incredulous at its £36 price tag and never-before-seen colour-way, she mused: "It's £36! And it's a colour-way I've never seen. Too good to be true? Can you hear that?"

Tapping the cup, which produced a flat ring, indicated damage, as Irita pointed out. The item’s heavy gilding obscured any visible imperfections, reports .

She exclaimed: "I would be bonkers to leave this! I am so buying this. There is no way I'm putting it back."

Negotiating with the vendor over the chipped cup, she asked for a price reduction due to the flaw.

The seller graciously slashed £6 off, letting go of the piece for a neat £30 instead of the label price.

The BBC personality couldn't contain her excitement as she plunked down the dough. Irita was full of optimism at auction, expecting a tidy sum from her investment.

As the lot appeared, Irita declared: "If this makes less than £200, I'm seriously- I might cry!" The bidding meekly opened at £5 and struggled to climb.

Much to her dismay, the item fetched a mere £25, resulting in a loss of £5 for Irita. Shocked, she exclaimed: "No! Did that just happen?"

She mockingly slumped forward in feigned dejection while Ishy offered consolations for the minor setback.

Yet, as the show concluded, it was revealed that Irita triumphed after all, closing the journey with £188.60 in her pocket, overshadowing Ishy's £64.82.
