The in is one of those destinations that needs to be ticked off the bucket list. Having spent decades in the travel and car rental space, Harry Anapliotis shared why the Amalfi Coast in Italy is best explored on four wheels.

For those confident enough to brave the windy and narrow roads, the spectacular views along the way are worth it. Harry said: "This stunning 50-mile stretch along Italy's Sorrentine Peninsula connects picturesque towns built into cliffs overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

"Highlights include the colourful houses of Positano, the historical sites of Ravello, and the beautiful gardens of Villa Cimbrone."

Harry said the route is best enjoyed "over three to five days" to really take in all that there is to see and to enjoy a leisurely pace.

There will be plenary of local eateries to enjoy and picturesque towns to visit along the way.

"Consider visiting in May, June, or September to avoid peak tourist crowds while still enjoying warm weather," Harry advised.

For those wanting to experience the ride along the Amalfi Coast without the pressure to manoeuvre all of the bends, cars and people, a private driver is an option.

Alternative travel routes can include trains, buses, and ferries - depending on your preference and budget.

Still a fan of the freedom and flexibility that hiring a car can give to you, Harry has another place where a road trip could be considered.

There's also "Rothenburg ob der Tauber's medieval charm, the stunning Neuschwanstein Castle that inspired Disney, and the beautiful walled city of Dinkelsbühl".
