'Snow White' producer's son blasts Rachel Zegler over controversy
27 Mar 2025

Snow White producer Marc Platt's son Jonah Platt has taken to social media to slam lead actor Rachel Zegler for her "political remarks."

In a now-deleted Instagram comment, Jonah defended his father's decision to call out Zegler for her controversial remarks about Palestine and Donald Trump.

He accused her of "hijacking" the film's conversation for her agenda, which "hurt" others associated with it.

This comes after Variety reported that Platt personally flew to request that Zegler delete her pro-Palestine tweet.

Responding to a social media user who questioned his father's actions, Jonah wrote, "Yeah, my dad, the producer of the enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 23-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicly for."

'Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged'
Repercussions

Jonah continued, "This is called adult responsibility and accountability. And her actions hurt the film's box office."

He also claimed that tens of thousands of people had worked on the film, but Zegler shifted the entire focus to her interests, putting her colleagues and blue-collar workers at risk.

He added, "Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged."

Despite the controversy, the live-action remake of Snow White secured the top spot at American box office during its opening weekend.

'Snow White' faced backlash over casting and storyline changes
Controversy

Directed by Marc Webb, the film drew flak even before its release over casting choices and alterations to the classic story.

Since then, Zegler has shared behind-the-scenes moments from the film on social media, celebrating its success.

Despite her previous controversial remarks about the original Snow White film being "dated" and "weird," it still topped the box office over the weekend.

However, with a budget of $270 million, it has only earned $87 million globally, which critics consider underwhelming.
