Salman Khan ’s much-anticipated action drama Sikandar is already making waves at the box office ahead of its theatrical release on March 30. With three days to go, the film’s advance bookings have surged to an impressive Rs 7.74 crore, bringing it closer to the Rs 10 crore milestone.
According to a report by sacnilk.com, the film has generated significant buzz since advance ticket sales opened on Wednesday. So far, over 98,296 tickets have been sold, contributing Rs 2.83 crore to the total. The film’s 2D format has dominated the sales, accounting for Rs 2.81 crore with 98,057 tickets sold, while the remainder comes from IMAX 2D screenings.
Maharashtra and Delhi have emerged as the film’s strongest markets. Maharashtra leads with an estimated Rs 1.55 crore in advance sales, followed by Delhi at Rs 1.29 crore.
Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Sikandar features an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna , Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal , and Sharman Joshi , alongside Khan. With advance bookings already soaring, industry experts anticipate a massive opening weekend for the action-packed entertainer.
However, the film will face stiff competition from the Prithviraj Sukumaran film 'L2: Empuraan'. According to the latest reports, the film has already shot past the Rs 50 crore mark in advance ticket sales. During a recent press conference for the upcoming action thriller, which also stars Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, Prithviraj clarified that there "is no competition" between the two films and also wished 'Sikandar' success.
"Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies. I hope it becomes a blockbuster," said Prithviraj.
"I will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 a.m. and Sikandar at 1 p.m.," he added. The Prithviraj starrer, set to release on March 27, is the second part of the film Lucifer, a major blockbuster in Malayalam cinema.
