Property expert presenting duo have opened up on some of the most "shocking" homes they have ever seen - with Scarlette admitting that she would have loved to "walk straight back out" of some of them.
The brother and sister are the faces of and have certainly seen some sights in their time. From filthy floors to huge problems, there is nothing that the hosts have not seen. They exclusively shared some of their biggest nightmares with Express.co.uk.
Scarlette said: "On Worst House on the Street, we went to see a house on the Wirral with a lovely lady called Paula and her kids. But the house was actually built over a stream.
"And she didn't know this when she bought it, so when she started to take up the floor boards, she just saw water running underneath her property. That's probably the most shocking thing I have ever seen.
Stuart added: "Yeah, we have seen a few strange things in our time. When you hear from homeowners about their ideas about something that you don't agree with or just think it won't work, sometimes it's really hard to say to them 'you shouldn't really do this'.
"Ultimately, it's their house and the way that we look at it is how to maximise how much your house is worth. What can we do at minimal cost to get the maximum gain? But sometimes you'll hear people's ideas and just scratch your head like 'what are you doing?'"
He continued: "There was one last series, where there was a terraced house with how many lights Scarlette?" His sister replied: "Oh my God, there were like 75 or something ridiculous like that in a two-bedroom house."
"And they were spotlights, so they're not cheap to run," Stuart added. "The amount of lights in that house could honestly light a runway. And I remember thinking to myself 'I'm sure the planes will be diverted from to this house!'"
Speaking about their new upcoming series Can't Sell, Won't Sell, Scarlette shared: "We've seen a lot in that series, which comes out in July. We've seen properties that are covered, and I mean covered, in dog hair and stink of dog. There's properties with rat poo and cat poo that haven't been cleaned up.
"These are things that we say if you want to sell your home you need to rectify these, with like a nice spring clean or just a tidy up and put things away. We've definitely seen some properties where, if I wasn't working on the show, I'd have probably just walked out and walked away."
Scarlette and Stuart Douglas will be appearing at the Ideal Home Show, on hand to offer lots of top tips, live Q&A's and demonstrations throughout the 17-day event at Kensington Olympia. Their fun insights can all be learned about at this year's Ideal Home Show from March 21 to April 3
When asked what they will be bringing to the event, Scarlette said: "We are very real. We are very honest. We have been there when it comes to making mistakes when it comes to renovations and we want to make sure that we help anybody who is watching our talks try not to make the same mistakes as us.
"Some experts make out that they have always been experts. Stuart and I haven't, we have really learnt a lot along the way, so we always try and be as open, honest and candid as possible. And of course we bring a bit of fun because we like to entertain and educate at the same time."
