Horror enthusiasts have been given a fright by the new Final Destination: Bloodlines trailer.

The sixth film from the hit franchise is set to release in UK cinemas on May 14. In the chilling teaser, we see a premonition of a joyous family barbecue that takes a fatal turn.

In a bid to save her family from their brutal fates, university student Stefanie seeks help from her grandmother, who reveals that she triggered the family's fate when she was young. As it turns out, the matriarch once saved an entire crowd, after she had a vision of their deaths.

However, her heroism fired back on the family because Death is now seeking to kill all of the people who were 'never supposed to exist,' including her bloodline.

As the synopsis teases: "Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all."

Its cast boasts Brec Bassinger (Stargirl), Richard Harmon (The 100) and Gabrielle Rose (The Night Agent). They are joined by returning actor Tony Todd, who passed away last year. Bloodlines, which sees him as William Bludworth, marks his final film role.

Like the franchise's previous instalments, the last of which was released in 2011, Bloodlines promises gruesome deaths.

One of the trailer's standout segments sees a character unintentionally serving a drink that has a shard of glass inside it, which another person later drinks.

Reacting to the grim scene, one YouTube viewer commented: "Dude the glass in the ice such a succinct way to get under my skin — kudos to the filmmakers I'm checking all ice from now on."

Another fan took to X and echoed: "New fear unlocked." Meanwhile a third person shared: "New traumas incoming."

A fourth fan gushed: "I'm screaming. I haven't been this amped for a horror movie in a bit." And a final person anticipated: "I'M READY TO BE STRESSED."

Final Destination: Bloodlines was directed by Adam Stein & Zach Lipovsky, who previously collaborated on sci-fi thriller, Freaks.

The duo's 2018 film was widely praised, with Rotten Tomatoes critics declaring: "Freaks is a clever sci-fi/horror hybrid that suggests a bright future for co-writers/co-directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein."

Final Destination: Bloodlines releases in the UK on May 14.
