After the complaint was filed about this video, the police immediately took cognizance and registered a case against them.
The entire controversy started when both of them posted a reel video on social media, in which Vinay Gowda is seen carrying a long ax in his hand. He was seen holding it in the style of Kannada actor Darshan and walking in a slow pace. This video spread rapidly on the Internet, due to which the police had to intervene.
As soon as this video went viral on social media, Basaveshwarnagar police took immediate action. The police registered an FIR against both and started investigation. According to the police, this video was likely to harm public peace and social harmony, as it was seen openly waving arms.
Based on the complaint of PSI Bhanu Prakash of Basaveshwarnagar police station, a case was registered under Arms Act (U/S-25 (B)) and Indian Justice Code (BNS), 2023 (U/S-270, R/W 3 (5)).
DCP S. of Bengaluru West Confirming the arrest of both of them, Girish said that Vinay Gowda and Rajat Kishan have been accused of violating laws to illegal weapons. He also said that such social media content can spread fear in the public, which can disturb public peace.
Although this video was only 22 seconds, it waged a wide discussion. Many people criticized the use of weapons in the name of entertainment in public places and described it as a violation of social responsibility.
