A 24-year-old Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer, posted at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, was found dead on the railway tracks near Chackai on Monday morning in what is suspected to be a case of suicide. The deceased, identified as Megha M, hailed from Pathanamthitta and had been serving in the immigration wing of the airport for the past eight months.

According to Pettah Police, the incident occurred near Pettah railway station, where the loco pilot of a passing train reportedly saw a woman jump onto the tracks.

Pettah Police told ANI, "A 24-year-old woman Intelligence Bureau officer, Megha, was found dead on a railway tracks near the Pettah railway station on Monday. Megha was a native of Koodal in Pathanamthitta, staying near Pettah as a paying guest. Pettah police are investigating the case. It is a suspected suicide case. The loco pilot of the train told the police that he saw a woman jumping onto the railway tracks. Her body was handed over to the family after the postmortem."

Suicide Suspected 

While no suicide note was found, preliminary inquiries suggest she may have been experiencing mental distress. A forensic science graduate, Megha had relocated to Thiruvananthapuram for her job and was staying in a paying guest accommodation near her workplace. Her family, including her father Madhusoodanan, a retired ITI principal, and mother Nisha Chandran, a government employee, have been informed of the tragedy, as per a report on Manorama.

Police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are conducting further investigations. Megha’s body was sent for post-mortem at Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital before being handed over to her grieving family.

Authorities have not ruled out other possibilities but are currently treating the case as suicide. Colleagues at the airport described Megha as a dedicated and reserved professional, leaving many shocked by her sudden demise.
