To become a civil judge, first you have to get a law degree after 12th. For this, you have to do a five-year BA LLB after 12th or LLB course after graduation from any stream. After law graduation, you have to pass the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI).

Judicial service examination is conducted in different states for recruitment to the post of civil judge. For example, in Bihar, civil judge recruitment examination is conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Similarly, in Uttar Pradesh, UP PCS J examination is conducted by UPPSC.

In the civil judge recruitment process, the prelims exam is conducted first. Those selected in the prelims have to appear in the mains exam. After this, a personal interview is conducted. After passing all three levels of examination, selection is done in the judicial service.

Civil Judge Salary: What is the salary of a Civil Judge?

After getting selected in the judicial service examination in Bihar, the candidates get posted as Junior Civil Judge for the first 5 years. The salary for this post ranges from Rs 77,840 to Rs 1,36,520. After this, on 5 years of experience, one gets posted as ACP Magistrate. After getting selected for the post of District Judge, one gets salary ranging from Rs 1,44,840 to Rs 1,94,660.
