The latest instalment of the Yellowstone prequel, 1923, has resumed on Paramount Plus, and fans are buzzing after spotting a surprise appearance by C Thomas Howell, who stars as the chief cowboy, Anders.

At 58 years old, the multi-talented American actor, musician, and director was originally named Christopher Thomas Howell and hails from Los Angeles, California. He shares his name with his father and grew up alongside three siblings: Stacy, Candy, and John.

His dad's career as a stunt coordinator and rodeo performer sparked Christopher's passion for the entertainment industry, having spent time on set from a young age.

In an interview with The Team Roping Journal, he reminisced: "I got up early in the morning and I went to work with my dad and I was on set. I met actors and I saw directors and I was like, 'Yea, I'm going to be here, for sure.'

"My father was a cowboy-still is-and he was a professional bull rider for 10 years and I grew up in Junior Rodeo."

His dedication to the sport led him to clinch the title of California State All-Around Champion for three consecutive years.

Christopher's journey into acting began with his role as Tyler in Steven Spielberg's iconic film E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial back in 1982.

Following that breakthrough, he secured his place in Hollywood with roles in classics such as The Outsiders, That Night, and The Hillside Strangler.

He has often expressed gratitude towards his father, calling him his best friend and crediting him for his entry into showbiz.

Christopher revealed the mixed emotions: "By getting me into the business as an actor, he seemingly lost his best friend and heeler because I went off on this career. It removed me from the ranch.

"That was sort of heartbreaking, in a way, I think, even though he couldn't be more proud of me and what I've done. I know, deep down, in his heart, he lost his right-hand man and I know it cut him deep."

He has quite a history when it comes to his romantic life, having tied the knot with actress Rae Dawn Chong in 1989 after they hit it off on the set of 'Soul Man', only to part ways a year later.

Christopher didn't wait long before saying 'I do' once again, this time marrying model and fashionista Sylvie Anderson in 1992; together they raised three children—Isabelle, Dashiell and Liam.

His marriage to Sylvie ended in 2016 after she sought a divorce; however, love struck again and Christopher married Brandi in 2023.

Beyond the glitz of Hollywood, Christopher keeps busy as the boss of his own production house, Buckwheat Films.
