The are very much in the public eye, but there are some parts of a royal's lives that we do not know much about, especially when it comes to life behind closed doors.
Although some members of the monarchy share more personal details about themselves to the public, not all royals feel the same, with some opting to keep as much of their lives private as possible. One of the things some royals tend to not comment on is their tattoos. Although not common for royals, some members of the monarchy have had ink on their skin. Here at Express.co.uk , we have taken a look at some of the tattoos Royal Family members have.
Princess Eugenie has a circle that was spotted a few years ago when she attended a National Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II at St Paul's Cathedral in 2022.
Prince Andrew's daughter, 34, hasn't spoken about what the tattoo means to her or why she got it.
However, it is believed the circle will have an important meaning to Eugenie.
Prince William and Prince Harry's third cousin Lady Amelia Windsor is also known to have tattoos that are unusual for a member of the Royal Family to have.
, the Duke of Kent's granddaughter has a tiger tattoo on her shoulder, which she has debuted in public.
The royal also has a tattoo on her rib cage of two small leaves. A third tattoo has also been seen on Amelia's wrist, however it is unclear what this design is.
Another royal who had tattoos was King George V, who was on the throne from 1910 to 1936.
Before becoming monarch after his father's death, King George V did not expect to take the crown as up until 1892 he was the second son.
However, as when his brother Albert Victor died from influenza, George's future role changed. Before this, the prince had been living the life of a Naval Officer, which is why he had a tattoo of a red and blue dragon while serving in Japan with the Navy in 1881.
This is not the only tattoo he had, with the King also having had a tiger inked onto his other arm during his navy days.
It is believed he would have got these tattoos before being aware of his destiny as monarch, as naval tattoos are a long-standing tradition.
