Quilindschy Hartman has previously been linked with clubs Arsenal and Chelsea - but the 23-year-old has his heart set on Alexandra Palace. The Feyenoord defender is desperate to forge a career in darts once he retires from football.

Hartman is a huge darts fan and recently watched Rob Cross defeat Stephen Bunting at the Dutch Darts Masters. The 23-year-old says he dreams of one day playing in the World Championship at Alexandra Palace. That is despite him winning four caps for the Netherlands, an Eredivisie title and a domestic cup under now-Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

"I play darts a lot and think that after my football career is over, I'm really going to throw plenty of them. I will want to play in competitions, as that is something I love," Hartman said.

"I don't get much time for it at present because of the busy fixture calendar. But if I'm still as keen on darts when I retire as I am now, then I will really go for it.

"It would be a dream for me to play on a big stage like Alexandra Palace. That would be amazing. I genuinely think that is something I'll be able to do if I get more time to practise. "If I play more often, I believe I can get there."

Hartman has made 72 appearances for Feyenoord, having progressed through the club's academy. The left-back only recently returned from 11 months out after undergoing knee surgery.

Last summer, Arsenal were said to be tracking Hartman's comeback from injury closely ahead of a potential switch. Chelsea are also reported to have registered an interest in him.

The Netherlands is a breeding ground for some of darts' biggest icons. Michael van Gerwen and Raymond van Barneveld are both from the European nation. They have a combined eight World Championship titles between them.

Hartman is not the only person keen to switch football for darts. Colleen Rooney has revealed that her third son with football icon Wayne Rooney has 'retired' to focus on darts. Kit Rooney, nine, has met Luke Littler and aspires to one day be on the same stage as The Nuke.

Rooney told the : "The third one has steak for breakfast, this is the darts one, he wants to become a darts player at the minute. Sometimes he'll have a fried egg with it, but mostly it's just a steak - he'll just have that."

Speaking later in the interview about Kit, she added: "The third one, he's retired. He's retired a few times."
