Pizza Express is rolling back the clock to celebrate its 60th birthday, offering pizzas for their original prices.

The offer will be available when dining in one of the chain's pizzerias on March 27 between 5pm and 6pm. It will be valid on any qualifying pizza, with one per person.

The included pizzas are the Margherita for 33p, La Reine for 48p, the American for 45p, and the American Hot for 50p. Customers will be able to upgrade to a gluten-free Romana base for an extra £1.95.

And from March 3 to 28, there will be a '1965 Icons' set menu offering two courses for £19.65. Dishes not included in that offer are the leggera, large classic, Duo Romana, piccolo, large classic duo and calzone pizzas and Al Forno and salad dishes.

All UK locations are taking part except for a select few. The offer is not available at airport locations, selected Welcome Break sites (Fleet, Oxford, South Mimms), Pizza Express Live music venues or when ordering at PizzaExpress supermarket pod concessions.

It comes after celebrity chef Marcus Wareing said Pizza Express serves the best pizza in London - and he has eaten the same dish there for 20 years.

The Michelin-starred chef sparked a debate on TikTok last summer by revealing his love of the chain's 'American Hot' pizza on a 'Romana' base with extra chilli.

And he's not the only high-profile fan. Hollywood star Eva Longoria once told Jack Whitehall the best Italian food she ever had was at a Pizza Express in Cardiff.

The US actress, who writes cookbooks and previously founded a Los Angeles diner, praised the branch while filming the BBC comedy series Decline and Fall in Wales.

Whitehall claimed Longoria was completely unaware that Pizza Express is a popular restaurant chain in the UK, saying she thought it was "family-owned" and had the "best pasta" she'd ever had.

Pizza Express opened its doors on Wardour Street in Soho in 1965, becoming London's first restaurant to solely serve full-sized pizzas. It now has 300 restaurants across the UK.

It has 100 branches worldwide, including in India, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The chain is looking to expand to 1,000 by opening restaurants in America by 2030.
