In late 2013, Jamie was included in the England team to play against Australia, but he did not find any game. In 2015, the overton brothers were called for the ODI series against New Zealand, but none of them got any game. The injuries harassed Jamie and became a major obstacle in his discovery to get an international cap. While his brother Craig made his international debut in the limited overs format in 2017, Jamie had to wait 5 years more when he finally made his Test cricket debut in 2022 against New Zealand. After starting his domestic career with Summerset, Jamie played on a loan for both Northamptonshire and Surrey. Jamie was part of the Surrey team winning the county championship in 2022. He was part of Manchester Originals in The Hundred and also the best player of the tournament in the 2023 edition. In 2023, he was signed by Adelaide Strikers.
