Fans are anxiously awaiting word of a possible sequel to the cult classic horror comedy “Jennifer’s Body,” which debuted in theaters more than 15 years ago.
Amanda Seyfried, who played Needy in the 2009 movie, is also giving some enticing clues, even if she hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
In a recent interview, Seyfried said, “I think we’re making another one,” but he did not provide confirmation. “I think,” I replied. “We’re working on it,” Deadline said.
The original movie, which was written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama, centers on Jennifer Check (Megan Fox), a cruel girl in high school who, after a failed sacrifice, is taken over by a succubus.
The main character of the movie and Jennifer’s closest friend is Needy, played by Seyfried.
Given the movie’s cult following and the resurgence of interest in the horror genre, Cody was hopeful about the prospect of a sequel last year.
Cody said in an interview that he was anxious to return to it. “But then this amazing thing happened the last few years where that movie found an audience and people started to really appreciate it,” Cody added. And I was able to say with confidence, “You know what? I’m still passionate about that universe, and I’d want to make another one.”
Megan Fox has also said that she would want to play Jennifer Check again. In an interview, she said, “I don’t think it’s a hard movie to make a sequel to,” adding that they need to turn it into a television show. “That would be awesome,” Deadline said.
Seyfried’s remarks have given fans optimism that a Jennifer’s Body sequel would finally be in the works, even if nothing has been formally announced.
