CBSE Class 10 Dual Exam 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Tuesday announced that there would be two exams for Class 10 from next year, giving students to an opportunity to improve their marks in the subjects of their choice. The board also released a proposed schedule for the two exams, along with draft norms, and a feedback form for the stakeholders.
According to the draft norms, students can opt to write the exam once or both times. And it they choose to take a re-exam, they will be allowed to “opt out” of the papers they don’t want to write again.
While the results of the first exam are likely to be declared by April 20, 2026, that of the second will be out by June 30. The final mark sheet of students appearing in the second time will have the best score from both exams.
The CBSE has posted a feedback form on its website, seeking public opinion on proposed draft norms. The deadline for this in March 9, 2025. "The responses will be scrutinized and the policy be finalized" after that, the board said in a statement.
According to the schedule proposed by CBSE, the first phase of Class 10 exams will be held from February 17 to March 6, and the the second phase will be held from May 5-20. This brings a big change for students as the duration of the total exam period has been reduced to almost half — from the current 32 days to around 16-18 days.
Students will likely get only a day or two between two papers for preparation, depending on their choice of subjects. Currently, intervals between two papers sometimes extend up to five days, and sometimes even 10 days.
