One of only five British-born players to win a Super Bowl, Osi Umenyiora played in the NFL for 12 seasons.

The defensive end was selected in the second round (56th pick overall) of the 2003 NFL draft by the New York Giants. Umenyiora spent 10 seasons with the Giants before signing with the Atlanta Falcons in 2013.

After completing his contract with the Falcons, he announced his retirement from professional football in 2015. Following his retirement, Umenyiora transitioned into a successful media career, earning multiple awards for his work as an NFL analyst.

Osi Umenyiora's net worth

Over the course of his career, Umenyiora secured several lucrative deals. From his contracts in the NFL to his sponsorships from Nike, Verizon, and more, he has managed to build quite the life for himself. His post-retirement career as an NFL analyst has also added to his wealth.

After signing his rookie contract in 2003, the former NFL player signed a contract extension until 2012 with the New York Giants which was worth around £20m. In 2012, he signed a one-year contract with the Giants which was worth £4.75m reportedly.

For his final stint in the NFL, the Falcons signed him on a two-year deal worth £6.85m. His net worth as of 2025 is estimated to be around £6m.

Married to Miss Universe 2011

After years of dating, Umenyiora married his long-time partner Leila Lopes in 2015. Lopes is a model and was crowned Miss Universe in 2011 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Shortly after their wedding, the couple encountered their first obstacle.

There was apparently an anonymous Instagram account created for the sole purpose of outing Umenyiora as an alleged cheater. Despite this, the couple have remained strong and continue to stay together.

Umenyiora and Lopes are blessed with two children. They welcomed their first child, a son, back in 2018. However, details about their second child have not been revealed to the public as of yet.

Osi Umenyiora's accusations against Giants GM Jerry Reese

Despite his loyalty to the New York Giants for over a decade, Umenyiora's relationship with the team ended on a sour note. Back in 2011, there was on-and-off hostility that clouded his stay at the Giants.

Umenyiora accused his general manager, Jerry Reese, of failing to honour a promise made in 2008. According to Umenyiora, Reese had promised a long-term contract if he maintained a high level of performance over the next few years.

However, when Umenyiora's contract expired in 2012, he alleged that Reese did not follow through on this promise.

Instead, Umenyiora signed a short one-year deal with the Giants before leaving the team in 2013 to join the Falcons on a two-year contract. This controversy marked a disappointing end to Umenyiora's otherwise successful tenure with the Giants.
