This Morning's live broadcast was unexpectedly interrupted on Thursday (6 February) by an unforeseen 'breaking news' segment.

Presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were stopped mid-show as the programme switched to Jeff Brazier, who is a regular feature on the ITV morning show for competition announcements.

During the interruption, Jeff engaged with a previous winner of one of This Morning's competitions, taking precedence over the scheduled programming.

Stationed at a desk showcasing the Weekly Winners promotion, Jeff instructed Ben and Cat to momentarily step away from their presenting duties so he could introduce the special news.

"I think you look a little bit thirsty, I'm going to send you off for a drink while we have some breaking news, everyone! " declared Jeff, leaving Ben and Cat taken aback, reports .

As they moved aside for Jeff, he announced: "I'm taking over because - we've referenced him already in the winners' circle - Craig from Tyne and Wear, are you there?!"

Jeff then spoke with Craig on the phone, revealing his £200,000 competition victory on This Morning.

Craig disclosed to Jeff that he had put away funds for his daughters' future weddings, invested in a new work van, and carried out home extensions with his winnings.

The interruption to the main show was only brief, however, and Cat and Ben were soon back at the helm as they fronted the next segment of the daytime show.

The pair discussed fashion trends before moving on to take calls from the public regarding whether they let their pet dogs interfere in their romantic relationships.

Also, on Thursday's instalment of This Morning, an interview with Kate Cassidy, girlfriend of late One Direction star Liam Payne, aired, as she spoke out about her partner's tragic death for the very first time.

This Morning airs on weekdays on ITV1 from 10am
