Fans of Silent Witness could barely handle their emotions as the show's beloved protagonists finally tied the knot.

The popular forensic drama's 28th series came to a thrilling close on Tuesday (February 4), with the long-awaited episode I Believe in Love hitting screens on One.

"I just wanted it to be perfect for you," he emotionally declared, eliciting Nikki's heartfelt response: "Marrying you, how can that be anything less than perfect?"

Choosing to seize the moment, they brought their wedding forward, enlisting Kit as their witness and Harriet to stand as Jack's best man.

During their intimate ceremony, Nikki professed, "I have faith in you and us. I'm giving my heart to you," while a beaming Jack responded, "And I'm giving mine to you, and I promise to cherish it."
