Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Love Story: The shining lights between the dark theater, the echo of dialogues, and the hearts beating somewhere behind the curtain. This was the platform where the first scene of the unique love story of Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah was played. Both of them met during a drama, and the same drama changed his life forever.

Years ago, in the rehearsal of the play “Sexual intercourse to retirement”, Ratna's eyes fell on a man. Wearing glasses, this person with bearded person was so different that she could not remove her eyes even if she wanted.
“I like men's beard and glasses, and both of them were with him,” Ratna said once smiling. But the funny thing was that when he was introduced for the first time, hearing Naseeruddin Shah's name correctly also became a challenge. Director Satyadev Dubey mentioned his name, but due to his accents and low teeth, Ratna listened to “Shivendra Sinha” instead of “Naseer”.

When Naseer introduced himself in the midst of twinkling lights, Ratna realized that this name is not only a name, this relationship is also going to be different.

This relationship started deepening during rehearsal. Without more questions, unconditional, both adopted each other.
“We didn't think much, nor asked more questions. Just realized that it looks right, and we decided to try it, Ratna accepted in an interview.

His “decision to try the bus” proved to be such a magic of luck that tied him for a lifetime.

In 1982, Naseer and Ratna got married after a seven -year long and lovely journey. But this was not just his story. Naseer was already the father of a daughter, Heeba Shah,. For Ratna, this relationship was not only with a wife, but also a mother.

A advice by Naseer simplified his life. He had said, “Do not tie the relationship in names. Husband, wife, mother, son… All these tie their relationships. Let them be flexible. ” The same flexibility was also seen in Ratna and Heeba's relationship. He adopted it firmly and moved towards a new world.

Today, Naseeruddin and Ratna's two sons, Imad and Vivaan Shah, are carrying forward the legacy of this love. Their story is proof that true love is not just union, but is the name of understanding and adopting each other.

“This story, which started from the stage, is still shining its glow on every stage of life. Naseer and Ratna's love story is the picture of art, dedication and true love that every heart salutes. “
