The Night Agent has returned to Netflix with season two and it sees Peter Sutherland go AWOL during a new mission. The Night Action agent is played by Gabriel Basso, though the star was not born with this name.

He was born Louis Gabriel Basso III, taking his father Louis J. Basso's first name, continuing a family tradition. For his acting career, he dropped his first name but has not given a reason as to why.

The star, who began his career as a child actor in The Big C, was born in Missouri and was homeschooled along with his two sisters - actresses Alexandria and Annalise Basso. Annalise, 26, is known for playing LJ Folger in Snowpiercer.

She launched her acting career as a child, starring in Bedtime Stories, Love Takes Wing and Oculus. Meanwhile Alexandria played Gibby's cousin Sabrina in the iCarly episode iBeat the Heat.

Gabriel did not always have his heart set on acting, as he dreamed of becoming a professional football player beforehand.

Speaking to Hero magazine, he admitted: "I didn’t want to be an actor originally, I wanted to be a professional football player, and I still sort of do.

"I’m still sort of trying. It’s hard to balance it with acting, but it’s still moving along, so maybe I’ll see you in England one day playing in the .

"I’ve never been told I can’t do anything, and when people tell me I can’t, that’s usually when I try harder. I’ve been blessed enough with an able body and sound mind. My friend and I write music, and I draw, and I’ve got soccer and acting, so it’s pretty crazy."

The 30-year-old performs his own stunts, revealing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon how he didn't want to lie to his audience.

He explained: "I don’t want the audiences watching the show, and then right as I’m about to get hit or hip tossed or thrown on my back, you know.

"I feel like it’s a lie. I enjoy acting; I don’t like lying. There’s just a difference.

“And for the sake of audience immersion, for the sake of believability, they like Peter [and] to watch him take hits is important, I feel like.

"And if that requires me to get tossed into a wall, then fine. It’s not the end of the .”
