Before sentencing, Grishma had appealed to the court for leniency citing educational achievements and no criminal history. Grishma had also cited that she was the only child of her parents, however the court sentenced Grishma to death.

Tried to kill earlier also

The court also said in its 586-page judgment that considering the seriousness of the crime, there is no need to take into account the age and other circumstances of the accused. According to the prosecutor, the court found that Grishma committed the crime in a planned manner. She had tried to kill Sherran once before also. After his arrest, he even tried to harm himself so that the investigation could be diverted.

Special Public Prosecutor VS Vineet Kumar said that the court's decision is completely justified. This case falls in the rarest of rare category. He told that accused Grishma had planned this murder very precisely.

The court did not show leniency

The court has rejected Grishma's claim that she had no criminal history. On August 22, 2022, he tried to poison Sheran with paracetamol tablets. Sharon did not consume it because she found its taste bitter. The court said that Grishma's action has given a wrong message to the society. This incident has hurt the sanctity of love. The court has appreciated the joint efforts of the police team during this period. Former Superintendent of Police D. Shilpa said that this is the result of his tireless efforts.

Kerala Police had also revealed that Greeshma had obtained information about giving slow poison on Google.

He used a dangerous pesticide called para-quat. Sheran died in the hospital after 11 days. During the hearing, the court found Grishma and her uncle guilty under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.
