However, while the announcement came 12 months ago, it is reported by that the deal to produce the documentary in the first place was struck long before it emerged that the German would be leaving the club.

The series, which was originally scheduled to be eight episodes long, is now expected to include just four episodes, with Klopp having been re-interviewed with a wider focus on his time at the club as a whole since leaving last May.

Other key figures in Liverpool's success across Klopp's near nine-year stay at Anfield are also reported to have been interviewed for the series, which is said to have been picked up by a streaming platform, although it is not yet clear which one.

A key part of Liverpool's decision to do the documentary, which is a club project, was the potential to generate significant income. Rival clubs such as Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal each generated millions from series documenting behind-the-scenes goings-on at their clubs in recent years.

The City, Tottenham and Arsenal series, which were released in 2018, 2020 and 2022 respectively, were all produced by Amazon Studios and are on Amazon Prime, while Netflix and Disney+ have had success with their respective series covering Sunderland and Wrexham in recent years.
