Cleaning it is an awkward task, and if you're the one in the household who has to do it, it can really feel like you've drawn the short straw. However, Jessie Marie () highlighted how important it is to do when she left jaws dropping online after revealing a hidden compartment that has become grimy, and people have admitted to not knowing of its existence.

After seeing someone disassemble their washing machine on the popular video-streaming service, Jessie braved her appliance to try it first-hand. At the bottom of the washing drum, the pulled on a plastic handle, which appeared to easily remove.

"Just found out you can take this piece in your washing machine," Jessie explained. However, after removing the part of the washing machine, there lay grime and dirt underneath, which has left people's jaws dropping. Captioning the post, Jessie wrote: "Saw someone do this on TikTok and I had to try it."

While the viral video raked in thousands of comments, TikTok users admitted that they wouldn't be giving this life hack a try anytime soon because it was simply too gross. "After seeing this I shall not be removing mine," one individual confessed. Another chimed in with: "Out of sight out of mind."

A third declared emphatically: "I'd throw the whole thing out, ain't gonna be doing all this." While a stunned TikTokker said: "The way my jaw dropped knowing mine probably looks like that."
