New Amazon Prime series Cross will breathe a new lease of life into the series which started as a collection of novels.
While the new show focusing on the character of Alex Cross will not strictly adapt one of the books written by James Patterson, it should be an exciting addition for long time fans.
However, Cross is not the only one in the spotlight as he is paired up with a partner, John Sampson, to help him along with his investigation. The stars playing these roles are hoping that their bromance will come across on the screen.
Bringing Sampson to life is Isaiah Mustafa, who you may recognise from a certain advertising campaign. But what else do you need to know about the actor? How did he begin his career and is he married? Here's what you need to know.
Who is Isaiah Mustafa?
Born Isaiah Amir Mustafa, on February 11, 1974 in Portland, Oregon, the actor was the youngest of seven children. His family moved to California when he was five years old, where his father began a limousine service. Years later, his father tragically died in a car accident.
Mustafa studied history at Arizona State University and expected to become a high school teacher following graduation, an agent encouraged him to try out for teams. He was signed by the Tennessee Oilers, who sent him to the European side Barcelona Dragons in 1998.
This was followed by a season with the Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns practice squads. He then attended Seattle Seahawks training camp in 2000.
After hanging up his cleats, Mustafa decided to embark on an acting career. To help him on this ambitious journey, he managed to win $47,000 on The Weakest Link thanks to his knowledge of comic book villain Doctor Doom.

He appeared in a now iconic advertising campaign for Old Spice. Dubbed ' The Man Your Man Could Smell Like' in 2010. Mustafa reprised his Old Spice guy character in 2014 and in 2015 when the advert also featured another former NFL star, Terry Crews.
Elsewhere, Mustafa's other previous credits include a main role in the series Shadowhunters, while he has also appeared in episodes of NCIS, Castle, Grey's Anatomy and Black-ish.
He plays the adult version of Mike Hanlon in IT: Chapter Two and also features in the film Boy Kills World.
Is Isaiah Mustafa married?Mustafa has one child from a previous marriage with professional wrestler Catherine Joy Perry, known as Lana.
He then married Lisa Mitchell in 2018 in Texas where Mustafa's teenage daughter walked him down the aisle, according to People magazine. He said of his wife: “I just never met someone who was so well put together as far as the way she spoke and carried herself. That it blew me away,” he says. “I had to know her more.”
The couple have since welcomed a son together.
