It's that time of year again where the colder weather means many of us get condensation build up on our windows.

According to ventilation company EnviroVent, occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces, or when there's too much humidity in your home.

It states: "When this moisture-packed warm air comes into contact with a chilly surface, it cools down quickly and releases the water, which turns into liquid droplets on the cold surface."

When condensation forms on a porous surface such as a plaster wall or wood, the water soaks into the material and begins to create damp patches. This can cause plaster to crumble, wood to rot, and paint and wallpaper to peel away, and it also creates an environment where and household pests can thrive.

As it grows, moulds release spores into the air which can be inhaled and are an irritant in your airways. Breathing in mould spores is known to cause , breathlessness, and can be harmful to those with a weaker immune system such as the elderly and young children.

So what can we do to prevent it? Homeware retailer teamed up with influencer Lyndsay, also known on as @norfolkavenue, to share a three-step on their Instagram page.

Step one saw Lyndsay clean her windows with washing up liquid and water using a sponge.

For step two, she used a window vac to dry them using "minimal effort".

Meanwhile, step three involved using a dehumidifier to draw out the moisture from the air.

Lyndsay was then seen giving a thumbs up at the end of the clip as her condensation hacks seemed to work a treat.

The brand are also giving customers the chance to win the window vac spotted in the video.
